What Would You Do?

If you caught a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day,
would you keep it for yourself, or give some of it away?
If you saw a lonely tear falling from someone's lonely eye,
would you walk away, or take the time to find out why?

If you saw a child had fallen, and scraped their little knee,
would you take the time to soothe it, by saying, "let me look and see?"
If you saw a hungry man, begging on the street,
would you stop and offer something, so this man could eat?

If you had the chance to be a Queen, and sit upon a throne,
would you give it up, or keep your humble home?
Would you love your neighbor, if at times they were unkind,
or pretend you didn't know them, as if you too...were blind?

For myself, I think I know the answer's, if all these things did arise,
I would be the person that I am, not someone in disguise.
For I need to be to other's, give freely my very best,
if at night when I go to bed, I could get a healthful rest.

I would take the sunshine and let all share in it's light,
wipe the tear from someone, who's lonely in the night.
I would calm the child who in a moment experienced pain,
feed the hungry beggar, I'd have a lot to gain.

There is no need to be a Queen, sitting high on a golden throne,
simple things would give me pleasure in my humble home.
I would try to love my neighbor, friendship is a precious thing,
it would bring with it love, and teach my soul to sing.

Thank you all for reading and the kind comments.  You may get to see more than you care too as I have been writing for almost 2 years.  They cover a wide range of topics. Basically my life and thoughts on life.. dreams and fantasies.
