The Beginning
That gasp for air at the first sign of light,
that beckoned my body in the still of night.
The hand raised gently...forceing more breath to come,
as I left the womb of the woman I'd call Mom.
Being taught in the many ways of the world,
having straight brown hair...that needed curled.
Lessons taught and lessons learned,
emotions later...in this body churned.
A heart that beat without help from me,
a soul that always felt the need to be free.
Life given and lived...without much thought,
of the battles won or battles fought.
More than breath of air I took that day,
when space became larger than where I lay
while I waited for the time God would place his hand
on other's, as this thing called life...I now began.
