So what are everyones plans for Thanksgiving next month?? Yeah I know its early..lol.

This will be our first Thanksgiving with no kids...dd can't come up. So...we are going to the Officers Club hopefully to eat dinner, then we have front row tickets to go see our favorite NBA basketball team play that night in DC. Go Orlando Magic!! Hopefully we will all be able to get together over Christmas.

mY son informed me that Thanksgiving will be at his place this year (his gf has asthma and is allergic to kitties in large numbers - I have 6 cats)

However we won't be celebrating on THAT day - but either the weekend before or the weekend after - he told me and I forgot which!

Soooooooo - on that basis - and since son does NOT necessarily serve veggies - I'm making MY personal (and may invite some folks over - not sure yet) Thanksgiving - complete with turkey, cranberry salad, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, brussel sprouts, another veggie - not sure which, sweet potato pie and pumpkin pie.  I figure the leftovers alone will keep me in lunches well until the new year!  LOL

First one without dad... probably at my house which is what we have done for about 3 years now.  Not sure of anything yet.

I am doing charity facials the Monday before and that is my traditional day to do my shopping.  I think I will think of it as just a big dinner and not try anything new this year... but who knows.

We have a book we write in each year.  The first was the year we lost my oldest brother.  My dad is the one that was always eager to write in the book.  It is going to be hard.

It is all going to be hard.

I'd like to suggest we go out for Thanksgiving this year... but I just can't bring myself to say it to anyone.  The kids may be looking forward to it.  I know last year ds8 said he was looking forward to it.  Oh, and we always feed this other family so yeah... having it at our house... rain, shine, or tears.

Dh would like to visit with his family in Ephrata, WA, however I think we're going to have a small feast here at home with the kids. :)

I ask mom just yesterday or the day before if she wanted me to cook this year since dad has been so sick & in & out of the hospital alot this past summer.. but she said since he's doing better, that for now she is planning on cooking (as long as she can she wants to do the cooking), so I told her if not or if she changes her mind I can do it here & they can come to my house for a change.. my sil started cooking a few years ago at home so her mom & dad would have a place to go eat, since they are divorced & live alone...& really don't have alot of family around.. so right now that is where it stands..

I know what you mean Gina about your mom wanting to do it as long as she can.  I was really wondering about Christmas this year but my mom plans on cooking Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve so that my brothers will come.  She can't even stand more than a couple minutes or it gets her out of breath!  That tells you how important it is to them!  I told her that she is coming to my house Christmas day because I couldn't bear the idea of her being at home.  So we will probably have 2 Christmas dinners unless dh lets me get away with counting mom's as THE dinner. ;)

Christmas Eve could be "the dinner" and then Christmas Day have more snacky type food, finger sandwiches, chips & dip, veggie pizza, veggie tray, etc.  maybe that will work.. not sure how we're doing Christmas this year.. will have mom & dads to go to, mil's & then my kids always come here, so with josh & crystal about an hour or so away, they can't drive back & forth, so they will have to come stay at mom & dads overnight or if I can get a bed set up, because I'm getting that basement cleaned out.. then they could stay down there, but I can breath a little before worrying about that..

I don't have either of my girls around for Thanksgiving this year so it's gonna be hard. I'm going to my favorite brother Kelly's which is good because he always cheers me up. No one can get me laughing like he can! I am taking pumpkin pies. Then I am coming home and crawling in bed w/ a good book after taking a hot bath. Then I work Friday night but am off again after that for the weekend. I don't have money for Christmas shopping... have a couple of little things I already got for my Mom and the girls. At least I don't have to deal w/ the craziness in the stores that way.
I hope all of you have a great Thanksgiving! Hugs, Kandi
