Am running late with my Christmas preparations, usually I champing at the bit to get started decorating before the end of November, haven't been that interested this year for some reason.

Did make a start today, I pulled apart DH's foosball table, been wanting to get it out of the way for ages.  It's only been played on a few times in the 3 years we've had it, I kept a board and tablecloth on it but the handles still stuck out.  Moved my Singer treadle into it's place.  1st tree has gone in the machine's old spot, still need to decorate that and get the rest of the decorations that, hoping to get it finished over the weekend.

Have been racking my brain to work out what to buy or make for Christmas presents, I have a lot of trouble buying for males.  I have a brother nephew, 2 nephew in laws, 2 BIL and my father to buy for.  Wondering what to give them literally keeps me awake at night.   I got all excited earlier today when I got an idea off the tv for my dad, found a remote control Mini Cooper for my brother (he loves his mini) and golf stuff for one of the NILs.  I'm making a quilt for my dad, so am going out to get the fabric tomorrow.  It's a very quick one, made with demin and backing fabric and no batting.  Raw edges are on the outside and are clipped so they fray when washed - looks really good.  Also if I get around to it I want to try to make Mini Cooper tree decorations for my brother, using polymer clay  - want to find a Hotwheels mini to give me dimensions.

Also need to work on the outside, everything is overgrown with weeds and I want to tidy the yard up - will get DS out there to help on the weekend.  Saturday will be heading to the city for a Christmas lunch with friends.  Hopefully I'll be able to get a little gift buying done while I'm in there.

I still need to work on other presents too, am giving Mum a dressmakers manniquin, it's secondhand - came from the shop I just set up, got 2 they were throwing them out.  I've washed it down, came up very well but need to put a base in for the stand to attach to.  I've cut the old base out.  Mum actually spotted it at my house, she used to have a similar one before she married but her mother threw it out while she was on honeymoon.  She's never forgotten which is why I thought she'd like this one.  After Christmas I'll work on my one, which may need recovering and the stand repaired.  I've always wanted one myself.

Also have up to ten Gingerbread house to make.  Busy Busy.

Energy? - aint got no energy!  Such good grammar LOL.

On Friday I went over to a town near work, there are a lot of Asian-run fabric shops there, they usually have a large amount of fabric and are usually pretty cheap too.  I needed to get 4 metres of denim, didn't want to pay more than $5 a metre.  I looked in 3 places they had it for $12 or $10, the next place had it for $5 - very cool!  I also ducked into work to pick up some thread and needles, found out they were robbed the day before.  It was a tagteam, one person distracted the staff while another broke into the register - they got $350 and were heading for another register but there were customers around which prevented that, they would have gotten over $2000.  I knew I had a bad feeling about working there - I am only down as an oncall casual, don't have regular hours.

Soccer was called off on Friday night, it was raining, very much a Godsend.  I spent the evening cutting out the fabric for my Dad's quilt.

Yesterday was spent in the city with 3 friends and my mother.  We caught a ferry across the harbour to Manly for a nice fish meal at the beach.  Got home to find boxes everywhere, they gt out the Christmas decorations while I was out.  We got the tree decorated and other things done.

Last night I started sewing the quilt, worked until I was too tired to go on, went to bed at 2am.  Slept for about 20 minutes then was unable to get back to sleep.  Ended up getting up and did some more sewing.  About 6.30 I decided to take a bath and finally went to bed about 7.30.   Managed to get 3 hours sleep, plus an extra hour later.

I finished the quilt today, just got it out of the dryer - it looks good even though the backing fabric shrunk more than the denim - gives it a puffy look.

Tomorrow I will probably  head out for some gift shopping, hoping to get everything I need bought and being able to cross that off my list.

I cut out another quilt today, decided to make one for my brother.  His is in a grey fabric, not denim that only cost $4 a metre and looks like it will fray perfectly.  I went through my stash of patchwork fabrics to use for the backing.  This time I washed everything before hand.  I'll be sewing it later today.

I just shampooed the rug in the family room, have had some problems with fleas (always this time of year) and decided to put the flea shampoo into the machine, it's natural chemical free one so shouldn't do any harm.  I've already treated the cat but the fleas love the taste of ds and me especially and I wanted to do anything short of flea bombing the house.  It's the first time I've tried this.

Right now I am feeling very tired, going to try for a nap.  It's self inflicted I've been staying up way too late these last few days.  Problem is that as soon as my head hits the pillow things start going through it and making it near to impossible to sleep.  2 nights ago I didn't get a wink of sleep until 7.30am and then was up at 11.

You are so talented and crafted, Cheryl!  I always enjoy hearing about your projects even though I know you are sometimes swamped by them.    Will you post some pictures of the gingerbread houses and your latest quilting work?

Remember to take time for yourself.  I hope you get some good sleep soon!
