  • Never go grocery shopping hungry
  • Take along a water bottle and a snack when I leave home
  • I check out Barnes & Noble.com and then go online at local library and put books I want to read on hold
  • Get dvd's from library or wait until movie I want to see on tv (I work for Directv so get all movie chs free as a perk--takes 6-12 mos to show up after theatre but no cost)
  • Plan all my errands out and route it for less mileage/ time and try to do them all in one day
  • Clearance and out of season items-- like when the girls were little I bought them coats for the next year in the spring
  • Lists-- saves on not getting impulse buys
  • Comparitive shopping-- also many stores will match prices of a competitor
  • Make some of my own cleaners/ air fresheners/ etc.-- like I use essential oil drops in baking soda and mix it in and put into a decorative container w/holes in it for bathroom scent.. also essential oil in oil/rubbing alcohol in spray bottle for air freshener, etc (their are many good books at the library on how to do this)..you can make your own bath salts and stuff, too and you know what's going into them
  • I think of a way I can use/ reuse stuff... like I had a flower pot that the soil needed emptying. I had a low spot in my yard so I spread the potting soil across it to fill it in.
  • Timer on my hose/sprinkler... this is great for me as I would often forget how long it'd be on
  • Wait until I have a full load to run washer/ dishwasher
  • Use cold water for all wash except sheets/towels
  • Air dry most of laundry outside weather permitting
  • Weather stripping on windows/doors and insulator pads behind outlets
  • Open up window blinds for sunshine when need extra warmth in house, close them to the sun when it gets too warm... Also during summer open up windows in early morning when is cooler to cool down house then shut them when it starts to warm up
