beauty(byū') The quality that gives pleasure to the mind or senses and is associated with such properties as harmony of form or color, excellence of artistry, truthfulness, and originality.

Is clutter standing in the way of Beauty in your home?

Beauty:  How do you bring beauty into your home in ways that please the senses?  What are things you do to make your home feel good?

One of the things I like to do is light scented candles.  I also use plug-in air fresheners.  Walking into a room and being greeted by a nice fragrance brings a smile to my face.

I also try to set up pleasing displays of pictures, candles, dried flowers, and other things that I like in each room so that there is at least one are I can look to and smile even when something else might be chaos.

Beauty:
How do you bring beauty into your home in ways that please the senses? For me beauty is living minimal...I don't worry when I have to get rid of things I have...I have used them and enjoyed them and now it time to let it go and let someone else get enjoyment out of it. If its something I have spent lots of money on...I look at it this way...I compare it to a night out for dinner and a movie...that could cost you 100$ so letting go of someting I don't use and is taking up valuable space in my home and mind...by getting rid of it is like a good dinner and movie night out! The dinner had filled you once and isn't going to fill you again and the movie you saw once but you don't want to watch it over and over.So clearing out that old movie and food isn't going to make me fell like Im missing out on it.Been there, done that attitude.

What are things you do to make your home feel good? I choose very carefully on what I have in my home, what I have to ask myself is...how does this item make me feel inside...does it bring a beautiful memory to me when I look at it? Is it something Im going to use weekly.... I mostly have outside elements because I love the outdoors,i have sand, rocks, driftwood, decorations of past holidays I have taken with my husband, everything has a really precious memory to me.    LOL Im thinking...so would 12 bottles of half empty shampoo do it for me! I think not..lol.So Out they go... Do I need 15 pairs of socks when I do laundry once a week,no I need seven. Do I need 5 sets of guest sheets for the guest room when someone comes to stay once a year for one night? NO out they go...THink and surround yourself with beauty

Gail a coupla things hit for me:

I mostly have outside elements because I love the outdoors,i have sand, rocks, driftwood, decorations of past holidays I have taken with my husband, everything has a really precious memory to me.

Something dh & I have doing for a few yrs & especially after tossing unloved knick knacks. I can pick up frames at the $ store & we have constant reminders of happy vacations.

Also I felt so free when I did this:
Do I need 5 sets of guest sheets for the guest room when someone comes to stay once a year for one night?

I use to have hand-me-down linen spilling into 2 closets.Blessed all the stained, unmatching linen to the local animal rescue shelter. Now I have 2 sets of sheets for our br (bought new with gcs)We have 2 guest rooms & I have 2 sets of sheets for each bed. The extra spare sets are stored in one of the gr's closets. Lottsa space in my linen closet now & nothing on the floor!
