Mix and tie in a blue or purple cloth. Anoint with Eucalyptus oil and wear or place near bed at night. Some herbs that are medicinally good for pain relief and magically good for healing that you might add into the sachet would be Chamomile, White Willow bark, and Wood Betony.

Beltane Oil
* a 1 dram glass vial
* Sweet Almond Oil - a thick base oil with a gentle scent
* 3 tears of frankincense resin
* 2 drops orange essential oil
* 2 drops lemon essential oil
* 3 drops frangipani essential oil (precious oil)
* 1 drop ylang ylang essential oil
* 2 drops rosewood essential oil
Place the frankincense in first. Add on top of that lemon and orange and
give a slight shake. Let sit for 10 min. in the dark or in the moonlight
(capped). Carefully uncap after 10 min and add the Ylang Ylang, and
Rosewood and recap to shake gently. Add sweet almond oil half way to the
top and add the frangipani oil. Fill with sweet almond to almost the top,
leaving room for some air and shake well. Fill to the top with sweet
almond and cap tightly. Store carefully away from light for no more than 3
months - really for no more than 1 if to be used near or on skin.
Test before using. To test, place a small amount of oil on your inner
elbow for a night. If you have a reaction, do not use anywhere on your
body. Frangipani is a common synthetic so be careful when purchasing -
please use only pure resins and essential oils in this recipe. Please be
sure you are buying and using the correct essential oils. If in doubt, ask.

Strawberries & Champagne Love Potion
What better way to romance your significant other than with a sensual dessert? Full of sweet, sexy ingredients and perfect for summer, this spell will start off the evening right!
2 Tbsp. Fresh lime juice
4 Tbsp. Light flavored honey
Fresh mint
Rose petals
1 qt. small strawberries, washed and hulled
Chilled Champagne, sparkling white wine, or sparkling white grape juice
Heat the lime juice and honey until honey melts. Add two large sprigs of mint and about 10 or 15 rose petals (works best if mint & petals are tied in cheesecloth). Remove from heat and steep for 5 minutes. Remove the mint and petals. Put strawberries in a bowl, add the sauce, toss gently, refrigerate at least 20 minutes. Divide the berries among six dessert dishes. Pour on champagne and add a mint garnish. Sprinkle with rose petals.

Rose Petal Wine
Note: source unknown
Enough red roses to fill 8 glass quart jars
5 to 8 pounds sugar
2 lemons, washed and dried
1/2 oz. powdered yeast
4 or more clean eggshells Cut off and discard the white bottoms of the petals. Let cold water run over the petals for about 10 minutes. Drain petals and place them in a three gallon stone crock or enamel pot.
Pour two gallons of water into another enamel pot. While the water is heating add sugar and stir until dissolved. (The more sugar added, the sweeter the wine will be). It is necessary to use at least 4 lbs. of sugar for proper fermentation. Bring to a boil, and then pour over the rose petals.
Peel lemons, reserving the rinds. Add rinds to the crock of petals. Squeeze the lemon juice over the petals. Cool mixture to room temperature.
Dissolve wine yeast in 1/2 cup warm water. Pour into petals and stir briefly.
Cover crock. Fermentation should begin within a day or two. As the mixture ferments, stir with a wooden spoon once a day. Fermentation should stop in approximately two weeks. When there is no longer any visible fermentation, strain wine into half-gallon or gallon jars. Squeeze every drop of liquid from the petals. Place two eggshells in each jar to help clear the wine. Seal jars. Let wine stand
quietly for at least two to three weeks. Then siphon off the clear wine into clean wine bottles. |

WILLOW FOR LOVE, OAK FOR STRENGTH

Many mystical and magical uses have been found for the thirteen trees which symbolize the months of the Celtic lunar year, and it is likely, considering the popularity of Celtic Paganism, that many more will be discovered.
However you choose to observe the lunar months, it can be helpful to first imbibe a magical brew designed to attune your body and spirit to the occasion.
Following are the recipes for thirteen teas which will accomplish just that. The measurements given are approximate, and for making one eight-ounce
mug full you should use no more than a single heaping teaspoon of dry herbs placed inside a tea ball or cheesecloth strainer. All liquid measurements should be added to taste. Allow the tea to steep at least two minutes,
longer if you prefer a stronger flavor. As always, when ingesting untried substances, be sure to test for any allergic reactions first, and remember that no herbal preparation should ever be taken over the long term without consulting an expert pharmacologist or botanist.
Though very few of the recipes actually contain any part of the trees to which they are attributed, they work quite well because their ingredients rely on using herbs and juices which share magical affinities with the properties of the tree. These properties are listed after the name of each
tree so that, if you choose to, you can make substitutions based upon this knowledge. Depending upon the particular Celtic tradition you follow, the lunar year starts with either the first new moon closest to Samhain or the one just before Yule.
BIRCH MOON

Banishing Oil
Ingredients 1/2 oz olive oil 7 drops pepper oil (add cayenne pepper to olive oil if you wish), 10 drops peppermint oil - or peppermint essence from icing part of a grocers plus olive oil, 12 drops of rue or rosemary oil. ( You can add rue or rosemary to olive oil and put in a warm place for 3 days and strain or buy the essential oil. ) Some crushed black peppercorns, 15 drops of pine oil (or some pine needles stepped in olive oil for 3 days in warm place and strained. ) Or pine essential oil. One obsidian or black onyx stone or a small black pebble. Procedure Blend together in an eggcup and put In a clean brown or dark medicine bottle. Some of these oils are volatile. Do not anoint yourself with Banishing oil. You could burn yourself. Wash your hands after using. Charge the stone or stones used after adding it and focus on the person and your intent pouring in energy and emotion. As you dress the candles you make them your magical tools. Charge again as you massage away from you massaging in banishing oil from middle to the ends of the candle. |

Witch's Daily Brew

Long ago I read Sibyl Leek's book "The Complete Art of Witchcraft". I
think that was the book that started my daily herbal brews. She drank
red clover tea every day as a body/energy strengthener. I tried that,
but later switched to instant ginseng tea for convenience and as a daily
ritual. This is the most recent development, and a recipe that friends
can't get enough of, I've even sold/traded it occasionally. The
proportions are rather intuitive and dependent on what's on hand, but
basically mix all of the following and use about a teaspoon of it in 6-8
ounces of very hot water, let steep for 5 minutes. I'll add botanical
names and attributes of each ingredient as soon as I can. If you don't
have all the ingredients, no problem, make it without them! This makes 2
of my friends VERY SLEEPY, so use at night if that happens to you too.
Personally I feel energized by it.
* 1 handful lemon verbena
* 1 handful lemon catnip or regular catmint
* 1 handful red raspberry leaves
* 1 handful red clover blossoms
* 1 handful spearmint leaves
* 1/2 handful peppermint leaves
* 1 large handful chamomile flowers
* 1/2 handful chickweed
* 1/2 handful dried nettles
* 1 handful lemon balm
If you live in a country where it is legal, and have glaucoma, are under
chemotherapy treatments, 1/2 handful of cannabis (sativa preferably, or
indica if desired or for severe illness) leaves, NOT flowering tops can be added. Otherwise this addition may not be wise for a daily brew! |
