Samhain
A Welsh Bonfire Divination
In the days of yore, it was a common practice in North Wales for families to take white stones - each one bearing the name of a different family member or a symbol marked to represent each person in the family - and cast them into a Halloween bonfire at the onset of the witching hour. On the ashes would be anxiously searched in the hopes of finding the white stones. It was believed that if any of the stones were missing, the persons whom they represented would die during the coming year.
