DREAMS UNDEFINED Here the path unbridled leads through pitted ruts and patch of weeds. With twists and turns, the road it goes, faster, faster, never slows. And like the carousel of life with steeds of happiness and strife, On and on and on it winds, across the barren fields of time. I with weights upon my feet follow on towards defeat. Was it here I thought to travel, mysteries to then unravel. Or am I led by fate's own hand to wander over wasted land. The landscapes of my dream are red, wet with blood as yet unshed. And I, within confines of sleep, stumble fall and lie and weep. Awake, I may control the pace but here in realms I run the race As a blind man stumbles on the shore I run and run and rest no more. Dark with shadows, racked with pain, I transfer to a smoother lane, Without the bumps and ruts and weeds that make my mind and will recede. And though the pace picks up and I can finally see the future lie, There is no rest, no time to think, for we are but a giant's wink, A cinder in the eye of man, a moat plucked out and thrown to land. If fate should ever have her way and I should be allowed a day, Then never more the strife and woe, I'll fan the flame and feed the foe And give to others what I need, give up laughter, goods and greed And sleep the sleep of gods possessed and rest and rest and rest and rest.
