The Dragon Song By Laura Karstelein There was a place of magic and rhyme. The mountains tall, the lakes so blue, The tales now told are thought untrue. But things exsisted in this land, Of good and evil, hand in hand. But something was not one of the two, For in that land, the Dragons flew. With hearts of wisdom and eyes for gold, They flew the land 'till time was old. Wings so wide and tails so long, Nature sang the Dragon song. A blue sky was the sleeping sign, And night sky was their playing time. What they played, no mortal knew, But in that land, the Dragons Flew. Their home's of rock and gem were made, And through the day that's where they stayed. Upon a pile of treasures and gold, They slept for days and n'er get old. Happy were they, not a care in the world, Till fateful day man got too bold. By night they gathered 'neath the lair, With sharp swords drawn and wild hair. They knew not what they were about to do, But in that land, the dragons flew. Thought they their host was mighty strong, They listened not to the dragon song. They crept towards their noble prey, But woe to those who dragon slay. The dragons woke from deepest sleep, Angry at those within their keep. Fire and smoke rose from battle ground, And many died with n'er a sound. For Dragons, mighty and noble are they, Are in fact able to slay. And though the Dragon song was silenced, Mortals brought upon themselves violence. There the Dragons did not stay, And in time they all flew 'way They left behind a land of strife, The humans paid a fearsome price. For in that land once good and true, The dragons, there, no longer flew. Click the dragon above to go to the Poem site. Assembled by Sapphire HTML Created by Wendy |
