Shell has been forced to suspend exploratory drilling operations offshore Alaska due to enviromental litigation. Shell has aquired 275 offshore blocks in the Chukchi Sea which could hold 15 billion barrels of oil and 77 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, but exploration will have to wait until next year.
