I don't know how many of you have played D & D, but I have for close to 12 years...off and on. For those who aren't familiar with it...it's roll playing game.  There are no game boards, or playing pieces.  Players usually sit around a table with a pencil and scratch pad.

In this game you assume a roll and a name.  At the start of the session you introduce your character and tell a little about him, or her.  You may choose to be whatever you want to be.  King, Queen, Warrior, Sorcerer. Magical Elf, whatever?  My character was usually Tragon The Nordic Warrior from Val Halla.

At the start of the game the Dungeon Master...usually he, or she who is hosting the game, sets the scene.  This could be a castle, the forrest, a cave or any number of places.  There is a mission to accomplish.  Anyone playing can accomplish the mission.  Your fellow players can be your enemy, or your friend.  You don't know which they are until you encounter them.  In some games if you are killed...you are out of the game, but in others, if you are killed you can be given another life.  Some games can become very compicated, and others are straight forward simple

It's all very magical and mystical and a lot of fun to play.  It has been said that D & D is a form of Devil worship.  It's not.  It's just a simple, roll playing game.

Wow, sounds like fun!  I want to be a magical cement sidewalk with the power to do nothing.

Now that's funny!   But if you were a magical cement sidewalk...you would have magical power!  You could be solid for the "good guys" and liquid for the "bad guys".  A bad guy steps on you and he sinks and is never seen again!  But, unfortunately you'd have to play some type of character.  It doesen't have to be humanoid either.  You can also be a magical animal.

This game sounds really stupid.  I guess a person has to have an overactive imagination to play it.

Stupid?  Not in the least!  Yes...you do have to have an imagination to play and you also have to be creative.  This is definitely not a game for an idle mind. It's the kind of game you either like, or don't like.  There's not a lot of in between with it.  When playing you have to pay close attention to what the other players are doing with their character.  They could be working with your character, or plotting against it.  If, while playing it, you hit a snag, it's the Dungeon Masters call on it.  The Dungeon Master is, in essence, the referee.

It's not a "shoot 'em up", "bang bang you're dead" game.  The kind where you need no imagination to play.  In this game you have to be able to think quickly and use logic. If one can do neither of those, he needn't be in the game.

Your posts here are somewhat confusing.  Could you explain your logic on this?

I got into this in the early 80's and played about once a week.  I played about a year before I developed my character, Tragon, Mystic Nordic Warrior from Val Halla.  After I played Tragon for a while I developed another..."side kick" for Tragon...Shameer, Sorcerer's Appentice.  Then in a game I had to play two rolls.  Some of the games got a little hairy and playing two rolls became a bit difficult...so I banished Shameer back to Val Halla.

I haven't played for a couple of years now.  The Dungeon Masters started getting a little to technical and began drifting away from basic story lines, so I dropped out.  I'll probably get back into it later.

It sounds like something an 8-year-old would play.

From that statement it is plain to see that you have neither the intelligence, nor the patients to play D & D.  I would strongly suggest that you go back to your "shoot 'em up" games.  Apperantly they are more your style.  D & D requires logical, rational thinking which, obviously, you have not the capability of doing.

Yes I’ve played D & D, but it has been many years.

Yes I guess it is stupid to folks that have NO imagination at all! Ouch
