This past weekend I participated in a Civil War reenactment...on a horse! My friend here in the Yankee uniform is the guy in charge of the cavalry and was riding Yankee for one event.  I told him that i thought it would be fun to ride with the cavalry.  They saddled up a horse for me and I did it!  I had to sign a waver so that if I got injured the group was not responsible.  This is a posed picture.  We did this after the battle.  It appears that I have captured a Yankee Captain!  This was fun, but those Army saddles are not built for comfort.  Leather over wood....no padding!  Had a nice case of tender backside for a couple of days.

I know that!  But while riding in the battle scene I had to wear my photo grays.  If I took them off I'd be blind as a bat!  Most of the guys who participate in those battle scenes wear their glasses.  They don't get that technical here.  Some take to wearing period style glasses, but most don't.  I have heard that for those big reenactments down South and for the Gettysberg reenactment they get real sticky about glasses. But what is a person supposed to do?  Ya gotta see things!
