"Bliss was it in that dawn to be alive
But to be young was very heaven!"

William Wordsworth

His perspective at the beginning of the French Revolution;
this spirit of enthusiasm didn't last long.

"Liberty leading the People" by Eugène Delacroix .This painting is one of my favorites. It is a freedom symbol. The artist's is following behind Liberty. He is wearing a black hat and coat. Liberty leading the People   Another website is "French Revolution: An Overview." It is at http://www.ragz-international.com/french_revolution.htm  .The website goes into details about the French Revolution. This is from the website.  "The French people overthrew their ancient government in 1789. They took as their slogan the famous phrase "Liberte, Egalite, Fraternite"--Liberty, Equality, Fraternity. Equality, or doing away with privilege, was the most important part of the slogan to the French revolutionists. For equality they were willing to sacrifice their political liberty. They did this when they accepted the rule of Napoleon I. Fraternity, or brotherhood with all men, was also sacrificed. However, they did win equality before the law."    Teresa
