The Town Game Hall was all abuzz.... there was to be a new game introduced to the genteel ladies and gentlemen and word had it that it was quite exciting... something called Bingo.   They weren't too thrilled with the name of it.. for it sounded quite lower class....and beneath them to play.  But Lady Carlyle assured her closest friends that when she played it abroud it was quite the thing in upper circles.

As the gaming patrons entered the room they noticed wonderful cards distributed on all the tables... made of the finest velvet covering with little squares open and various numbers printed in each square.  The numbers were gold.... quite exquisite indeed... and not at all anything to be ashamed of handling.  Next to each card was a silver bowl of glass bead markers... almost looked like diamonds.   The room was abuzz with voices wondering how this newfangled game was played.. and what one was to do with the glass beads.

Cecily leaned over to Ana Marie and whispered... "Do you really think we should participate in this new game?"

Ana Marie glanced around the room to take note of who else had elected to come tonight.   She spotted several of the 'better' of their class and decided if THEY could play it then surely it must be all right.   But then she also spotted the most wonderful reason to stay and learn this new game... Lord Gregory was here!

"Cecily, Look!  It's him!... Lord Gregory... oh please stay with me!  I simply have to stay now that I know he's here also."

Cecily rolled her eyes at Ana Marie.... "Oh all right!  But only because we are the closet and dearest friends!  You owe me after this!   You will have to agree to go to the upcoming Harvest Ball in return.   Bingo indeed... what a name for a silly card game!"

With an ever so slight pout of agreement and without ever taking her eyes off Lord Gregory across the room Ana Marie didn't really care what she had agreed to.   Tonight all that mattered was somehow procuring a table close to, if indeed not the very same table... that Lord Gregory would be sitting at.   Now how to go about doing that...????

As more and more patrons entered the hall Ana Marie realised she would have to act quickly before the seats were all taken.   She must not be stuck in a corner out of view of Lord Gregory's attention.   For surely she would be able to claim his attentions.. one way or another.   On that she was most assured.

The slightly wicked smile forming on her friend's face had Cecily wondering what on earth she had gotten herself into by agreeing to help Ana Marie.   "Oh my I hope I don't regret this night!" she thought to herself as Ana Marie started pulling her across the room.
