How old were you when you first got your Driver License? Where did you take your road test? Who's car did you use for the road test? What year, make and model car did you use for the road test? Who drove you to the road test? And, did you pass or fail the first time out?

I was 16 years and 10 months old.  For the road test I used my mom's fairly recent (1 year old) four door Dodge Dart, truly and ugly car.  This was my second attempt after I failed the first go round.

I took the road test on White Plains Road near the EJ Korvettes and Hills Supermarket shopping area. I took driving lessons from a driving school located on 170th street off the west side of the Grand Concourse and I used one of their cars.  I cannot recall the name of the school or the make of the car, but I sure recall failing the road test first try. It was during a downpour of rain.  I passed on the second try, same location, driving a 65 Chevy Biscayne.  1969 age 19.

I have absolutely no recollection of where I took that stupid test, and its driving me crazy.  I passed on the first try, however I was 23 years old......in the Bronx it wasn't necessary to drive, so I took my time about it.

I learned to drive and passed my driver's test in Oak Park, Michigan in 1965.

I learned on an automatic.  I taught myself how to drive a stick shift by buying a new car with a 4-speed and driving it home. (Honest!!)
