When, if ever, did you receive your first traffic ticket? How old were you? Where did it happen and what was it for?

I've been able to beat almost every ticket I've ever gotten.  The only one that cost me was for speeding in south Carolina.  I told the trooper I was in a hurry and asked if I could pay the fine directly to him.  He took $25.

I got two speeding tickets in one year in 1973.  That was a mistake because I also got an automatice 60 day license suspension.  It was a lesson to me.

Then in 1974 I got three tickets in one sitting:  No state plates, no state driver's license and U-turn in an intersection.  That was a lesson, too.  I went to court and beat all three, after I got a state license and registered my car in that state.

It was for failing to yield to a pedestrian while making a right turn from either 6 Mile Road or 7 Mile Road on to Schaefer Highway (which was actually an avenue) in Detroit in 1965.

Orchard Beach parking lot, 1963...my husband, then boyfriend, was teaching me to drive stick shift on his TR3 triumph sports car...a realy beauty...I didn't have a licence, and of course, had no clue what I was doing..The policeman saw me 'bucking' thru the parking lot...hardly any
cars there to cause any harm... He sped right over, and slapped me and my b/f ...(hubby)  with tickets...I was so scared to know that I had to appear in court...Never got a ticket since!

Slinky....It's funny, you are the second person I heard about, this week, who got a ticket in Orchard Beach Parking lot...I was always under the impression that for some strange reason, the police couldn't give you a ticket there. A buddy of mine said that up till the late 70's, the lot, there, was maintained by the city so was security. In the late 70's, the parking lot was rented to an outside firm who then took over maintenance as well as security...So, if you want to give it another shot, I don't think you can get cited there again....LOL

HA!  .... Thanks, but No Thanks...
That one episode was enough for me...Have to laugh though,
we were on the back end of the parking lot, with no one around, and he just swooped down on us..must have been just watching and waiting to make his move..It wasn't like I was going to run someone over!!  I guess we made his day...
how many tickets could he give over there..right?
