Probably some have you had a broken bone in your youth.  I broke my right arm twice playing street games.

The first time I was playing with those  segments of  large concrete sewer pipes that were on the street waiting to be installed.  We stood  up on the pipes and rolled them.  I fell and a pipe rolled over me. I was 9 years old

The second time it was broken in a game called chains.  There were two teams.  On time would stand in a line with their hands locked together in a chain  while the other team, one at a time, charged and tried to break the chain.  My arm broke.  I was 10 years old.

Since both breaks took place at about the same location on Franklin Avenue, a  bronze plaque was mounted on the street  to honor my sacrafice to Bronx games.  Don't bother looking for it because a few years later when the trolley tracks were removed, my plaque disappeared.

Never broke a bone as a child- just a sprained ankle. As an adult I've broken some of my toes and the worst was broken ribs when I was 8 months pregnant- ouch! Had severe bronchitis and they broke when coughing.

Broke my right olecranon sliding into third base.  That's the tip of the elbow.  I never could play softball worth a damn.  Got beat up in street fights several times but it did not improve my behavior or attitude.

I never broke a bone in the Bronx. I waited until I was in California.

I broke my ankle while playing football at the Williamsbridge oval field in 1970. That was my only Bronx broken bone. I went through the windsheild of a Police car on East 141 street between Willis and Third avenue in 1978....thankfully I didn't break any bones and only had a concussion and a few cuts on  my rather hard head.

Sorry!  Forgot to mention that I din't get right on a line drive in a ball game when I was 13.  The ball went off my middle finger, breaking it at the first joint.  It still does not bend well and I to this day have a two part fingernail.  Told you I couldn't play softball!
