Poe park was right across the street- spent most of my time there. St. James was a short walk, they had a playground and a sprinkler, went there in the summer when I was small. Also hung out in St. James for a short time when I was in the 8th grade. Most of my early and teenage years were spent in Poe park in the "circle". If the railing is still there, it is bent from all the years of our butts sitting on it. Also have many memories of square dancing in the summer in the 60's in Poe Park |

Mike....did the parks in the Throgsneck houses have names? (serious question) Did the parks in any of the Housing complexes have names or were named after a particular person? Some one told me that the parks in Parkchester were named after people but I can't remember any of the names....Does anyone know the names, if they were named? |

Joyce Kilmer, Franz Sigel if you were into a longer walk and Mullaly. Though I could walk to Franz Sigel I really never went there. |

I think it was the playgrounds in the parks that were named after people. I know the one in Waterbury Park is named after Phylis Bufano and the one in Wilkinson Park is named after Florence Colucci. Not sure of any others. |

I don't believe the parks in the project had names. The one on Balcom was a parks department park and probably had a name. I have no idea what it was. |
