I think it happened in 1965...Do you remember what you did that day?

I remember the blizzard being in the winter of 68-69, so depending on the month it was either 68 or 69, but I am leaning towards 69. I was in the 8th grade that year and remember a big storm- school was closed, which almost never happened in the Bronx. Went out, hung with friends and had awesome snowball fights. Streets were hard to navigate and I remember deliveries to stores were delayed.

The winter of 60-61 had two big snows. After listening to announcement after announcement about closures of suburban and parochial school, we finally heard those magic words- "New York City Public Schools are Closed!"

I remember it being more like '68 because I was still in grammar school and I had my dog.  The snow was so high it was hard to walk her and our street, Woodycrest Ave was not plowed for days and the 49 bus could not get through.

Jane you are correct, it was in 68. I remember Tremont Ave, in Throggsneck, not being passable for days...It was also the most snowdays, at one time, I can remember having off from school ever!

I was in Michigan in 1968.  I remember a big one in 1967, which at the same time was huge in Chicago.  I don't remember a big one in the midwest in '68.

I believe the 1965 event was the big blackout. . .which I narrowly missed by moving to Michigan about 4 months earlier.
