Today my dad Richard Burns would have been 66 years old, he passed away in 1979 at the age of 41. His mom, my grandma just passed away April 28th of this year at the ripe old age of 88. There wasn't a day that went by that she didn't mention him. I miss them both and hope they are happy together with his dad at last.

I may have known your Dad in Junior High School.  Did he go to Clark.

Yes he did. He lived on 138th and Brook, as did my mom. They grew up together in the St. Lukes parish.
Dad was a bit of a hellraiser as a kid, but a great guy with big heart. Unfortunately his heart gave out at age 41 back in 1979. This time of year still gets particularly hard for us, as Thanksgiving was his favorite holiday. Thanks for remembering.

This is spooky. My paternal grandmother passed away shortly after Thanksgiving in 1962. Ironically, she and our family were together for Thanksgiving at my uncle's Manhattan apartment. We took her home after the party. . .I escorted her to apartment door at 2160 Bronx Park East. . .she went inside. . .I returned to the car. . .we went home.

I never saw her again.

While I was still married back in 1977, my then-wife and I traveled from Chicago to suburban Detroit to spend Thanksgiving with her family. Her grandmother was among those present at Thanksgiving dinner. A good time was ad by all. The next morning, we received a call at our motel. . .the grandmother had been found unconscious on the floor and had been rushed to the hospital. Shortly after we arrived at the hospital, we leaned that she had died.

And of course, we all remember the cloud that hung ovr Thanksgving in 1963.

One of your Father's friends and a friend of mine was Donald O"Connor.  Donald lived on 140th ST near St Ann's.  I hear that he too died young.  Do you know anything about his death?

What I heard Bill, I'm afraid was not good. He died of a drug overdose, apparently we was an addict. I do not know this for a fact, but I did hear it from a few people.
