Hi!

I'm doing genealogy research on my father's side of my family.  My dad was born and raised in the Bronx.  He graduated from Straubenmuller Textile High School in January 1935.   At this time (1935) my dad and his family lived at 748 Jackson Avenue.

If anyone has any information about this old Bronx address, this high school, if it still exists, or where I can obtain a picture or really any information at all ... please email me.  Thanks!

The building is located on West 18 Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues. It now houses the Bayard Rustin High School for the Humanities and the Humanities Academy. There is a plaque in the lobby that serves as a tribute to Mr.  Straubmuller. The school administration (or more likely the Board of Education or New York Historical Society) might have the kind of information you are seeking.

Best of luck,

Hi Chandis.............I went  to Straubenmuller Textile High School. I graduated in January 1937.............Over the years the name of the school has changed several times........Today it's called either the school of the humanities or charles evans high school. Give me the chance and I will find out more about the names although if you go to "Google" and punch in the "Straubenmuller" name you'll get all the other names it had......................It was located at west 18 street between 8 and 9 avenue in Manhattan............ My name is Total1937 and I'm using my sons machine to send this. I'm also at the "Yorkville" message board. Regards........Domenica
