The population in Boulder has been about 100,000 for many years, about 30,000 due to the University of Colorado. Although the population has remained somewhat steady the traffic has become much worse.

There is a controlled growth policy in the city which limits the construction of new residences, so the value of existing homes has increased dramatically. As new business and work opportunities developed in Boulder, the employees could not afford to live in Boulder so all the surrounding communities have grown. As a result there is a lot of commuter traffic coming to Boulder.

Many tourists stop oiff at Bouylder during the summer on their way to the Rocky Mountains National Park which is less than an hour drive. In the winter, skiers drop by.

It is still a nice place to live, but there are 4 times as many traffic lights as when I moved here. It is a high tech area, which has suffered in the past couple of years. Some of the business have cut back or moved to nearby lower rent areas. As a result the tax revenue has been significantly decreased and the city is forced to make cut-backs in services.

It is still a nice place to live, but I wish it were still like it was 10 years ago.
