You would never believe the differences between Pa and NY, at least I found it took some getting used to. In NY, there is always something going on, 24/7. Here in Pa, the sidewalksget rolled up at 9:00pm. Bars close at 2:00am and Sundays remind me of the 60's, a day of rest!
I'm amazed at how the postal workers can deliver the mail here. There isn't one house in my area, that I have ever seen that has an address posted on it.
I had to learn a new language to order food in a deli. A hero isn't a hero, it's a Hoagie!
Nothing is a couple of blocks away, everything is down the road!
To go to the store, you can't just walk down to the corner, you have to drive into town!
But, one of the best things that I had to get used to, the animals! Here in Pa, the animals have four legs, unlike the ones in NY, where most of the animals only have two!

Bobby, I remember what you said. You said "Herbie is such a great guy; I wish I lived in his town."

OK Herb, I will take you at your word ! Although I doubt I would have been terminated for such remarks.

OK, you're in that 81/80/380 'triangle'. I went to Penn State and had classmates who lived in the area--sometimes we'd go to their houses on weekends for home-cooked meals. My wife is from Bethel Park, a southern suburb of Pittsburgh and they thought I was from Mars coming from the Bronx. Do you remember that sign on I80 coming from NJ, just as you crossed into PA, which said 'Pennsylvania, America Starts Here'? Well, the NY/NJ area (and that certain mindset which we'd all recognize) certainly does end there.

About 15 minutes before you get into State College (the town surrounding Penn State), there is a big prison in Lemont. The ex-cons who served time there have a long running joke about the Penn State/State pen thing.

Regards,

Michael

PS: I also got my grad degree from Northwestern, any Wildcats in the group?

There are plenty of Wildcats in this group. I don't know about Northwestern alumni.
