Maple or Ash?  The vast majority of baseball bats (including Louisville Sluggers) are made out of ash.  Increasingly now people are making them out of maple.  I know that 90% of gun stocks are made out of walnut because other woods (like maple) are thought to be heavier.  Some folks are even talking about hickory for bats.  Maple is heavy but is the only kind Barry Bonds uses.
 
Are you in favor of maple bats?  How do they differ from the traditional models?
