There is no better rivalry in sports than the Rangers and Islanders. Now that hockey season is underway ,it's time for the wife and me to start arguing who is better. She is a Ranger fan and I an Islander fan .The Devils don't even count.Any hockey fans out there?

I was a Rangers fan for a few years when I was still in New York. Now my local team is the San Jose Sharks, from whom big things are expected this year. Hockey is very exciting in person.

Mike D, otherwise known as BronxBobby1 and who is not currently participating on this board, is a long time Islanders season ticket holder and avid hockey fan.

Interesting, you and he are both Islander fans and have similar screen names.

I was a hockey fan back in the days of the "Original 6" and continued through the first few NHL expansions, but eventually lost interest.  Today's game seems to be mostly "dump, follow and shoot". . .such skills as forechecking and backchecking appear to be lost arts.

The NHL has gotten way too big.  There are teams in really bizarre places. . .such as Tampa Bay, Miami, Dallas. . .Columbus, Ohio. . .Phoenix. . .

. . .San Jose. . . . .
