Curt Gowdy passed away yesterday at the age of 86.
It seemed that whenever sport--ANY sport--was being televised, Curt Gowdy was the play-by-play announcer. He covered major league baseball. . .college football. .the NFL. . .even fishing. Whether it was a bowl game or major league baseball on Saturday afternoons, "The Cowboy" was there to bring us all the action.
Curt's first major league baseball announcing job was with the Yankees, alongside Mel Allen, from 1949-1951. He was also the voice of, you should pardon the expression, The Boston Red Sox for 15 years.
Thanks for the memories, Cowboy. |
