Coach Ray Meyer passed away Friday at the age of 92.

Coach Ray was the coach of the DePaul University basketball team from the 1940s until the 1980s. While his teams didn't achieve the national acclaim received by other schools, Coach Ray Meyer established himself as one of the best college basketball coaches ever. More importantly than his basketball coaching skills, however, were Coach Ray's credentials as a human being. . a warm, decent man who always displayed a positive attitude toward his school, his teams, his sport and his city.

Pardon my Yiddish, but Coach Ray was a MENSCH. And G-d knows there are all too few of them around any more.

R.I.P. Coach Ray.
