Its an expensive calibur to shoot just for putting holes in paper but if you are after that elk at 800 yds then you picked the right 30 cal bullet. I've had mine for 4 years and usually use either a sand bag or a bi-pod for those long shots! but once you hit an animal in a vital area it will go down.

I have built quite a few rifles in this caliber, and in 338-378 Weatherby.  Excellent load if you hand load.  Factory ammo is loaded cold, and this load likes to be pushed hard!  We have built a number of rifles for F Class and 1000yard competition and like the Remington Ultra Magnum calibers you absolutely must load these with powder charges of maximum recommended and beyond to get any accuracy.  These aren't calibers that can be downloaded light because then the group sizes open up dramatically.  At maximum and above (almost to the point of catastophic case failure) these calibers exhibit, from Match built rifles, group sizes of around 1/10th of a minute of angle accuracy (which you must have to be competitive).
