2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/4 cup shortening
2/3 to 3/4 cup milk
Sift together flour, baking powder and salt into mixing bowl. Cut in shortening with pastry blender or two knives, until mixture is about as fine as corn meal. Add milk and mix with fork quickly until all flour is just moistened.
Turn onto lightly floured bread and knead gently with floured hands 8-10 times. Pat out or roll with floured rolling pin to 3/4 or 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with floured cutter.
Place on ungreased baking sheet, cook in 450*F oven for 12 to 15 minutes. Biscuits should double in thickness, be golden brown on top and bottom, tender, moist and flakey inside. Serve hot!
