SWEET CREAM BISCUITS
2 cups flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
4 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/3 cup shortening
2 tbsp. butter
2/3 cup heavy cream, half and half or milk

1. Stir together flour, baking powder, sugar, cream of tartar and salt. Cut in shortening and butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Make a well and stir in cream. Drop dough by heaping spoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 450º for 8 to 10 minutes or until light golden brown. Yield: 1 dozen biscuits.
