 A day forever etched in the history of the world - not just the U.S.A. - September 11, 2001. I was awakened that morning by the gasps on the tv as the first plane went into the building. Steve came out of the shower and I told him a plane had just hit the World Trade Center. He stopped and watched also. Then we saw the second plane fly right into the second WTC building. We were horrified. As the day unfolded, I went through a whole gamet of emotions - as I'm sure most of us did. I called my spiritual director. She said all we can do is pray. I prayed like I'd never prayed before. I called the school where my daughter was to find out how they were handling this. They said some parents had opted to come after their children - but most had opted to leave them at school. They were trying to maintain some normalcy in their day. I opted to leave her at school. But when I picked her up afterward, I was so glad to see her. I held her close and cried out of sheer joy that we were alright. This was a day that will stay with me - emotions, feelings, the sheer physical exhaustion I felt - until the day I die. My prayer is that whoever is leading this country will stay on top of all the "chatter" and threats and be man enough to warn the people if something is eminent. Don't blindside us again! PLEASE!
