In 1868, Commander in Chief John A. Logan of the Grand Army of the Republic issued general order number 11 designating May 30 as a memorial day

" for the purpose of strewing with flowers or otherwise decorating the graves of comrades who died in defense of their country during the late rebellion, and whose bodies now lie in almost every city, village, and hamlet churchyard in the land. "

The date was later changed but the sentiment should be the same.

Let us not forget the sacrifices made by all the men and women of our armed services throughout the years.

My thanks to all who have sacrificed for my freedoms.  I hope everyone has a wonderful and thoughtful Memorial Day.

Why
9 - 11 - 01

Our precious country was attacked on this fateful day.  As a people, we knew nothing of the plans.  We were blindsided by some cowards.  There was nothing we could have done to prevent what happened because we weren't aware that it was possible.

There were many lives lost on a date that will never be forgotten.  This date is forever etched into our history books along with all other important dates.   We will forget the names of those who met their maker on that fateful day, but we will never forget the day and how we felt as we watched the unthinkable happen.

There were many brave souls on that day in September.  Many courageous people came together in the days that followed.  Many of those who perished new they were breathing their last breath.  Many suffered horribly.

To those who cannot understand why we are the way we are :

Get over it and move it on over,
we will not - can not tolerate your kind of humanity.  We know you will never understand why we are the way we are.  You will never understand why we fight for our freedoms.  You will never understand why we don't want you as a dictator to us.

But you should know this....  We have a history of winning and you may wake up one day and wonder where you are, even though you went to sleep in your own bed the night before.

Most things have a way of leveling out...  Nature sometimes plays a role in 'fixin' things and sometimes might  plays a role...

There were many brave souls on that day in September.  Many courageous people came together in the days that followed.  Many of those who perished new they were breathing their last breath.  Many suffered horribly.

May we always remember who did what to whom, and may we always be proud of those who stood up tall when the need arose.

We will always be the most dependable nation on our beautiful Earth.

Why do we love our country so ?
Why are we so proud of our own nation that
no other country will ever take her place ?

Our people voluntarily join our military.  Our people choose to be a policeman or a fireman.

You won't find another country with so many people who feel they can make a difference.

We don't live in a perfect world, and we don't always make the correct choices.

We are built to stand up against anyone who attacks us.  Whether it be on our land or in our seas.

Our history is what makes us what we are today.

We simply love our country.  We love her because she's fought to be free, because she's fought for injustice, because she's constantly trying to do what's right.   For her people, for people in other countries, for future generations and for past generations.
She's committed quite a few sins along the way.  She's even been completely wrong in her decisions.  We accept the bad with the good.  We strive for improvement.

"There's a pride in every American heart
and it's time we stand and say:
I'm proud to be an American
where at least I know I'm free,
And I won't forget the men who died
who gave that right to me,
And I gladly stand up next to you
and defend her still today,
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land.
God Bless the USA"
Lee Greenwood
