Fir Darrigs

Land of Origin: Ireland.

Other Origins: Possibly Scotland was their first home.

Other Names: Rat Boys.

Element: Water.

Appearance and Temperament: Fir Darrigs (Fear Durgs) are fat, ugly faeries with dark, hairy skin and long snouts and tails which give them a rat-like appearance.

They wear torn and shabby costumes which look as if they date to the Middle Ages. If you have on around it is best to appear conciliatory and friendly until you can banish him.

His is a morbidly dangerous faery whose food tastes run to carrion, and his shillelagh (Irish walking stick) is topped with a skull of unknown origin.

Time Most Active: Winter.

Lore: Fir Darrigs are thought to be a sub-race of the Formorians, ones who live near the sea rather than in it.

They like to enjoy the heat near human fireplaces, but they make their homes in damp raths or marshes near the sea.

Fir Darrigs are surprisingly good swimmers, yet they make no attempt to obtain fresh seafood. Rotting sea carrion is a smell they adore.

Where to Find Them: Along polluted coastlines, swamps, marshes, and in coastal ruins.

How to Contact: Contact not advised!

Magickal and Ritual Help: None.
