Other Origins: The Spanish brought this faery form to Mexico and to Central and South America.
Other Names: None known.
Element: Earth.
Appearance and Temperament: These solitary faeries appear as middle-aged women in green robes. They are small and sly, and their fingers look like long icicles.
Extreme jealousy of the human condition is their primary emotion, one which overrides all other concerns, and they seek to harm and destroy humans whever possible.
Fortunately there are few left.
Time Most Active: All year, especially at night.
Lore: Duendes (Doo-in-days) attach themselves to homes and become so entrenched that they are very difficult to exorcise. They would love to drive their human families from the homes so that they might have these dwellings to themselves.
To this end they make life miserable for the human family. They are such practical jokers and engage in so much poltergeist-like activity that many people with a Duende will swear their home is haunted.
They especially like to throw things and move furniture about. They have been known to help clean a house, but this is for their own comfort and not for that of the humans with whom they share the house.
Where to Find Them: Unknown.
