Spellcasting Each Lunar phase brings its own potency and
certain lunar aspects are more auspicious for performing specific spells and rituals.
The Moon waxes and wanes each month, rising an hour or so later during each 24 hour period. When it is full, it rises as the sun sets. There are different types of spells traditionally preformed at the phases of the moon, More complicated patterns exist, relating to the specific day of each lunar month, but these methods are rarely followed today. New Moon
This is the time to cast a spell for new beginnings, renewal and growth. Spells cast at this time will continue to gain power as time goes by.
Waxing Moon
It is an ideal time to cast spells requiring the fulfillment of request. Lunar power is constantly increasing during this time. Its also the time spells to do with health and healing, psychic awareness, beauty, fertlility and all positive magical workings.
Full Moon
This is the time of the Esbat, where all witches gather under the moon's full beauty and re-engage our pagan origins. Spells cast tonight are ideal for completion and immense immediate power.
All positive magical spells are preformed beneath the potent glow of the full moon, including protection, love, healing, purification, psychic awareness, money and travel.
Waning Moon
As the power of the moon begins to wane it is drawn inside for later use. Cast spells now for resolution or for something to be concluded. This is the time for banishments of habits, addiction, disease and negative thoughts. Jealous, guilt, and hurts are released under the waning moon. The old is swept away to make room for the new.
Dark of the Moon
The Moon's power is now competely internalised and being withheld. Be cautious when casting spells at this time because while the power of the moon is strong, it is also unpredictable. The time is best spent on reflection of things past and to come.
Some spells to use the dark of the moon is for getting rid of negative aspects in your life.
The Power of Colour
Colours are important when casting spells on various days of the week, months of the year, and during astrological phases. By knowing what colour corresponds with what day, period by your choice of candles, robes, altar cloth, paper or writing fluid. These colour are a guide only, so dont be afraid to vary them according to your mood and what feels right for you.
