Merry Meet and Greetings from Sedona, AZ!!

I have just joined your most interesting msn group and was actually pulled in by those beautiful gazebo-like structures that are on some of the opening pages.  I've seen those in my dreams.

I am a Wiccan of almost 9 years, have read and studied many of the major books/authors of contemporary Wicca as well as Gardner, Valiente, et al.  I self-dedicated on Nov 15, 1997 using the method that Scott Cunningham had suggested in his "Wicca for the Solitary Practitioner"  I still read and read mostly Wiccan books.  I started with the Egyptian pantheon, then the GreecoRoman and now, since I found out that my ancestors are from Cornwall, England (one of the last outposts of the Celts on mainland Britain) I've really gotten into Celtic Wicca.  I love it and am very passionate about it, even after all these years.

I am looking to get some kind of formal training as well as a degree (?)  It looks like you have Wicca Classes, but are they associated with any other group like COG or FOI?  I am tired of being alone in my wiccan workings.  I thought, when I first moved to Sedona that this place would be full of Wiccans/Witches/Pagans.  It seems everyone is more interested in UFOs, "Ascension", alien abductions and angels.  I know of a Celtic shop here who had her windows broken out and her car wrecked because she was a Witch.  So, the burning times are still here!  Even in Sedona.

On the mundane side of things, I was an RN for about 25 years, and moved to Sedona in 1999 from San Diego.  I am also a Reiki Master, ART, an Astrologer and right now I'm studying the Runes.  I've also studied and done Tarot for 20 years.  I have a very wonderful husband of 25 years who has helped me so much on my healing journey.  We have no children, just a cat (my other cat had to be euthanized due to cancer last October).  I live "on the edge of the forest," where we see all kinds of wildlife and the beauty of gaia.

Presently, I am recovering from a recurrance of ovarian cancer (now don't all shudder) it is a very rare kind, slow growing and I've had it for over 10 years.  I am almost healed and only need a couple more chemo treatments.  I used to do my own rituals, Esbats and Sabbats but stopped doing them because I'm still on pain meds and I've read that you're not supposed to do ritual and be on these meds even if they are prescribed.  This makes a lot of sense to me.  I am being tapered off of them and hopefully I'll soon be back to normal.  Do you have online rituals?

Well, sorry to go on so long, but I think it said somewhere that you really wanted to know who was joining!

I would really love to know if you do give out Wiccan degrees after a period of studying and if so, which order or mother coven are you affiliated with, if any?  Also if you have any online Esbats or Sabbats.

Thanks so much for listening and being here!  I be talking to you all again!

Blessings of love and light,
Morgaine Silverhawk, or Kathleen

Hello and Welcome!

I have some quiet time (the house is asleep) so no interruptions....Ahhhh! Deep breath. Well welcome to the group. I'm sure you'll find everyone a true light on your personal path.

I am Hunters Moon or Jennifer - whichever you prefer...'hey you' works well around my house as well:-) and I have been a solitary practitioner it seems for almost all my life though I've only been seriously and formally pursuing my solitary path for almost nine years now as well (my how time flies).

Solitary Wicca by Cunningham was my first book as well when I began to seriously study and learn, and I have found it to be one of my most treasured books of all time (and that's saying a lot since I have oodles and oodles of books).

I've never been an avid labeller but if you like I'm a solitary natural witch or kitchen witch or green witch or eclectic witch, or whatever the name is. My whole life I've always had this spirituality although it wasn't until I was 27 (oh my, am I revealling my age?...no counting John;-) ) that I truly found the 'name' for my beliefs and what I was doing naturally.

I live in Northern Alberta Canada on a farm with many four legged creature who I think believe that I am their pet versus the other way around. I have a wonderful husband who accepts me the way I am and supports me in my endeavors as well as two children who are the lights of my life. We own our own company and I run the office as well as I contract out to Forestry, make metaphysical arts and crafts, run the farm, work as a stay at home mom and I am otherwise known as Jack of All Trades. I was born with many gifts (as we all are) without realizing that they had names or that there were people who understood, could explain them and teach me to use them. I am now learning to accept and trust those gifts that I was blessed with. I have studied the Tarot, Runes, and many divination systems as well as various religions to broaden my horizons. I am learning herbalism, aromatherapy, stones and anything else that I can learn. Like most pagans I read a ridiculous amount with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. I practice my Esbats and Sabbats on my own and with the group.

Yes, we do have Wicca or Craft classes and at present I'm blessed with heading the class (so to speak) though we are all teachers and we are all students. The Wicca classes aren't formalized study though we pursue Wiccan topics as well as other metaphysical and pagan aspects in order to broaden our knowledge and understanding.

Solitary Wicca can be very lonely though I have found that while this road is hard, it can be most rewarding -adding a dimension to your personal path and faith that only the journey alone can grant. I too was anxious to pursue degrees and a teacher when I began along this path until I decided that the degrees held no importance to me, only what I determined their value was. Really, my only gauge for my journey was my time, understanding, growth, practices and beliefs - and for me that is enough.

Although I have gotten frustrated and lonely at times on my journey, I realize that these feelings were challenges that when I overcame only strengthened my resolve, my beliefs and my practice. And I thank the Lord and Lady for the lessons given and learned.

I, myself, don't have any degrees nor do I claim to know anything. I prefer the local indian saying "I know nothing. I know nothing. Maybe when I'm 100 I'll know something." But like you, I am on this personal journey and growing into a skin that has been waiting for me all my life.

We do celebrate Esbats and Sabbats. And there are wonderful people here who volunteer their time, knowledge and light so that we can all grow and share.

I truly hope you enjoy your time with the group. They are a wonderful crew and I wish you good health and healing.

Blessed Be
Hunters_Moon12
