And the Wheel Turns By Hunters_Moon
Happy New Year, everyone! I certainly hope your holidays were filled with love and laughter. As this is January 1st of a new year, I thought it would be good for us to begin the year with developing our psychic abilities.
First of, we'll review the aspects of the month of January. The month of January is named after the Roman God Janus who is a masculine version of Anna Perenna and like Anna, Janus has two faces to look into the past and the future at the same time.
The full moon aspect of this month is the Cold Moon or Earth Renewal Moon with the universal even being the planting of Spring Wheat.
January's message is to begin, to conceive, to originate with the activity of self-perpetuation.
This month's healing properties is directed to ills of the joints and skin. Appropriate spells for this month can be the dedication of new goals for the year, prosperity, health and finding focus.
This month's color is white; the tree is the Birch; the flower is the Snowdrop; the creature is the pheasant or snow goose and the gem is the garnet.
Considering the aspects of this month (beginning anew), a General Purification spell would be appropriate. This spell comes from northern Europe and begins with clearing your space. To begin again, the old must be cleared away to make room for the new. Once a year, I go through my closets, house, etc. and I remove all those items I no longer use, fit, etc. and I pass them on to a charity or friends who might want them. I also go through my pantry and remove any dried goods (cans, etc.) that are more than a year old and I pass them onto the food bank where they'll get used immediately. This way I ensure that none of my dried goods is out of date and the food is continuously kept "fresh". If you're like my husband (otherwise known as the family pack rat) or if there's some stuff you're unsure whether you want to part with, then another way to do this is to pack up all the items you want to clear out and then place them in the shed or the storage room or whatever with a mark as to the date they were boxed. If within the following year you never miss the items and don't re-open the box, then next year you just pick up the box and drop it off at the charity of your choice without even looking inside (to avoid any struggle parting with the contents). I cannot stress enough how well this works. Simply clearing out the clutter, the unnecessary creates a wonderful space for fresh energy to enter and you'd be surprised at how uplifting and how well energy begins to flow again.
Once this is done, you brainstorm as to how you want this year to manifest. Fantasize, dream, imagine, see the year and yourself as you aspire it and you to be. Then with white parchment and red ink, draw what you want and be specific. If you don't already have a home altar, now is a good time to create one.
Now find yourself a thirteen-day white candle that will burn thirteen days and nights (candle shops and some religious shops should have this) and place your list of wishes on your altar or special place under the candle that you've anointed with either violet oil or your own perfume. You can even kiss the list (puts your saliva on it) or spray your perfume or whatever to tie you to the list. Now decorate the space with birch twigs (or whatever is available or you prefer). Put these on you altar.
Take a shower to open up your pores and go to your altar. With the twigs or branches or blossoms or whatever, gently slap your neck saying:
"I purify myself from defeatist thinking. I purify myself from old patterns I purify myself from my past. Make my spirit come into new life As the sap comes into the birch tree."
Don't slap too hard. This is only symbolic. Now slap the solar plexus saying:
"I purify myself from loneliness. Love will come to me Like the new life of the mother."
Finally slap your feet saying:
"I purify myself from inertia. Vitality will come to me. Like new life from the mother."
If you want, you can get dressed now and beginning at the east, moving clockwise, go to each corner in your house and beat the twigs against the walls, furniture, bed, desk, etc. to drive out the old year's leftovers. Then burn the twigs in a fireplace or outside or bonfire. Then, for the remaining days, simply meditate on the candle. In twelve days, when the candle is almost burned down, burn the parchment in the last of the flames.
Now be ready for the blessings to come.
Now is a good time for reflection on the year passed and looking forward to the year ahead. What have you learned from the previous year? What blessings did you receive? What challenges did you face? Where would you like to be a year from now? What are your goals? Dreams? Take some time to be silent and truly listen to yourself.
You are the creator of your world and now is the time to take charge of how you want your world to manifest.
As a beginning to our psychic development, let us first review some concepts and terms as a basis of understanding in metaphysics. What is life? Well, every thing is alive even what we normally term as dead is alive. How can this be? Well even with the cessation of life a fresh form of life has taken over. The process of dissolving creates life of its own.
Everything vibrates. Molecules are in constant motion. Molecules are the smallest portion of a substance capable of independent existence while retaining the properties of that substance. Molecules are made up of atoms which resemble miniature solar systems. The nucleus is the sun, the electrons the planets and in between there is a lot of space. But for metaphysical purpose we will simply focus on molecules.
We are a mass of rapidly moving molecules and while we may appear solid it is an illusion because if we were viewed by an infinitely small creature it would see us as a universe with whirling planets, stars, nebulae, etc. Just think as we stare up at the heavens and dream upon the stars ?mesmerized by the mystery of the universe so may some creature be doing the same to us. This would explain how a "ghost" is able to travel through a supposedly 'solid' wall. Everything is relative what may seem solid to you may not be so for a spirit or an entity from the astral plane. Basically when we strive for spirituality we're trying to increase our own rate of vibration on Earth.
The human brain generates electricity through the action of chemicals, water and metallic ores in our body. The whole body is electric but this electricity is more magnetic in origin versus the kind that lights a light bulb.
You remember when you would sprinkle iron filings on a sheet of paper that was lying on a magnet and how you would watch in amazement as the filings would find some sort of order and arrange themselves in a pattern around the north and south poles? This is the same as the etheric and auric force.
We all know that electric current has a magnetic field around it and with AC power then this field pulsates and fluctuates with the changing polarity that is it seems to pulse with the current. The human body, which is a source of electricity, has a magnetic filed outside of it. The etheric fluctuates and vibrates so quickly that it's hard to see the movement (kind of like not seeing the current fluctuating in a light bulb unless you're in the country or on a ship when the fluctuations are slower).
The etheric is the forerunner of the aura and many people get gooseflesh when they're close to another person because they sense the etheric. Try standing behind someone and holding one finger close to the nape of their neck. Then touch them. A lot of times they cannot tell the difference between the finger that was just close to the finger that was touching due to the etheric being sensitive to touch.
In some the etheric extends about 1/8 of an inch around every part of the body including individual strands of hair while in others it can go more than 6 inches. It follows every bump, mole, dip and contour of the human body. You might be interested to know that when someone is subjected to high tension electricity at negligible amperage then the etheric can actually be seen glowing blue or pink. Weather conditions can also increase the visibility. Saint Elmo's fire is when every part of a ship's masts and rigging become outlined in a cold fire and this can be compared to the etheric of a ship (of sorts).
This is just like the white-blue glow of high tension wires in the countryside on dark or misty nights. Engineers know this to be the corona which they now take precautions to minimize. The corona of the human body is the etheric and looks similar to the discharge of high tension wires.
Seeing the etheric simply takes practice. Sit down and be comfortable and make sure you're at least six feet away from anything else. Breathe steadily, deeply, and slowly. Extend your arms to your full length and place your finger tips together with you thumbs up so your finger tips are in contact. Then part your fingers so that are 1/8 of an inch, quarter of an inch, apart you will perceive something like blue smoke (similar to cigarette smoke that hasn't been inhaled). It may appear luminous and as you continue to separate your hands you will see more of it and if it disappears then bring your fingers back again and start over.
But look at your fingers and watch the mist flow from one to the other. With practice you will observe the flow from either the left to the right or vice versa, not only based on your sex but your state of health and what you are thinking at the time.
You can also have someone stand in front of neutral background (black or white) and have them extend a bare arm and hand a few inches in front of the background with fingers spread wide. Now you look towards but not directly at the hand, arm, and fingers. There's a knack of looking at the right place in the right way. If you find all you see is the arm then you're trying too hard. Relax and breathe.
Another experiment is to find a helper you can practice with the palm of your hand (preferably of the opposite sex). Sit in chairs facing each other. You should both extend your arms at full length. Then bring your hand palm down close to that of your partner who sits palm up. When you are about two inches apart you may find either a cool or warm breeze that flows from one hand to the other starting in the middle of the palm. It depends on which hand it is and which sex you are as to whether you feel cool or warm. If you feel warm then move so that the hand is not directly in line with the fingers but at an angle and you may actually find the heat increasing. It also increases with practice. When you get to that stage look carefully between the palms and you see the etheric.
The etheric is only the manifestation of the magnetic forces within the body and it is sometimes called the ghost because when a person dies in good health this charge remains for a time. Maybe you've heard of old graveyards in the country where there aren't any streetlamps, etc. and people say they can see a faint bluish light on dark nights rising up from the ground from a grave that was made that day. This is the etheric charge dissipating. Just like a hot kettle cools and you can feel the heat leave, so the body dies and the etheric force declines (i.e. Relative stages of death). Practice seeing the etheric because until you can really see the etheric you cannot see the aura which is a finer thing and much more complex.
You can practice on plants as well. Take a plant and place it in front of a neutral background, now place a lamp to one side and in front of the plant. Now look towards the plant and you will see this envelope of energy around the plant. You may even see where a leaf was clipped and the plant's energy is remembering the leaf as it heals.
For this week, I want you to practice seeing the etheric. Practice daily. And don't give up. Next week we'll discuss experiences and build upon this skill.
That's it for tonight. If you have any questions or would like to contact me, I can be reached at [email protected]. Have a great week! And thank you.
