President-elect Barack Obama's potential Cabinet continued to take shape today, as two sources close to the transition team said that New York Federal Reserve President Timothy Geithner is "on track" to be offered the Treasury secretary post. Sources also said that Gov. Bill Richardson is a serious contender for commerce secretary. developing story { And apparently Hillary has said "Yes" to Sec of State! This is all GOOD!} |

If Obama wants to be sincere about ... "CHANGE", how about saying something like....... "I will not raise taxes on anyone!" Now THAT would be a "change". |

I'm not asking for much, and I'm certainly not asking for the Bush II administration to be continued because some of Bush's do-nothing policies have contributed to our current financial problems, but a few of Bush II policies did work and need to be continued, and those are, reduced taxation and a strong military. Obama promises to not only undo the good things that came from Bush II, he is promising to do the same as Clinton, which is increase taxes that led to a recession, and make America appear weak and encourage terrorism and guarantee more terrorist action aganinst American interests. Obama has not promised to "change" anything that would be good for what is the most on people's minds these days... the economy, and infact, is making the economy even worse by continuing his promises to raise taxes during a bad economy. |

It's impossible to discuss politics with you driver. On the contrary, Rose. It is only impossible for YOU, and other liberals of your ilk, because you never discuss anything. You vomit the party-line and then say that anyone who disagrees with you is.... angry, vulgar, and hostile. Pretty childish. |

Rose- We all know that you can't discuss anything, and your constant personal attacks are becoming tedious. I know you have admitted that you are a bitch, but you don't have to continually remind us of that fact. |

I thought this was a liberal group, it is the American Experience. Well at the risk of offending sanitation workers... after the American Oligarchy's single worst intestinal discharge over the last eight years; Obama can ill afford to take major risks on cabinet picks. |

OK, I'll try and get this back on topic, and away from the personal attacks. Actually both of the subject appointments are quality appointments. Although in my view Richardson's appointment is to the wrong position. By and large Obama's appointments indicate that he will apparently attempt to govern from the center. And from my perspective this is actually a pleasant surprise. The only appointment I have any issues with at all would be Eric Holder as AG. And in his case it is more a problem of ethics, in particular his role in the Marc Rich pardon than it is with actual philosophy. While I don't have huge problems with the Hillary Clinton appointment to State, it is an appointment that seems somewhat odd to me on a couple of levels. First, and most importantly someone like Bill Richardson is actually far more qualified, and makes more sense at State than Hillary. And it is also like David Broder was discussing the other night. This appointment is not really that great a political move for either Obama or Clinton, even though HIllary will probably do a credible job as SOS. Will she be the second coming of Cordell Hull or George C Marshall? No, but then she won't be an emmbarrassment either. |
