Federal Law prohibits travel between two contiguous U.S. ports. For example, you cannot board the ship in New Orleans and then debark in Tampa. Such travel would constitute point to point transportation between two U.S. ports, which is prohibited on foreign flagged ships. Any guest who insists on debarking under these circumstances accepts responsibility for any and all resulting penalties. Ha! I'm glad to see a law aimed directly at punishing Alaska has some blowback on the rest of the US. I found this on the Carnival Cruise lines website. I swear, the more you learn about the US federal government, the more contempt worthy it becomes. |

To my knowlege, neither Walter Williams nor Thomas Sowell gained office so I didn't elect anyone. And the Jones Act was pushed through by Seattle to keep Alaska from doing business with Canada via barge. |

California is worse. I am an American Citizen residing in California. I have a California Commercial Class A Driver's License, but I have to get it renewed in California because CA Standards and my medical card. I can go to Mexico and get a full Class A "License" that no one will ever check becacuse CHP and DOT will not check them! |

To my knowlege, neither Walter Williams nor Thomas Sowell gained office so I didn't elect anyone. I'd appoint Walter E. Williams as Chief of Staff, and his wife would take another position... I respect Thomas Sowell as much as I respect anyone who talks a good game, but never plays it. |
