hey! it's me again. so i have a mutt-modern game hen named Molly who has become unually broody for the past month or two. normally i wouldn't care bout the broodyness (my Wyandottes go broody all the time but they snap out of it quickly, so it's nothing new for me), cept she's been broody for about two months, hasn't laid a single egg but sets on other hens' eggs, and now she's getting really skinny, her face is pale and her comb has shrunk to this tiny thing, her belly feathers are falling out, and she's becoming... freaky. she's acting really... odd. so, is there any way i can make her unbroody??? i'd tape the nests shut, cept i have 2 Americaunas in with her that go INSANE if they don't get a nest to lay in. so what should i do? she's been a little less broody lately, but she's still broody as ever! -Courtney Moody |

i'd say cage her. if you can give her a spot with grass and a patch of dirt for dusting...if not just grass should be good. shade food and water all good too. no nest tho, i think its time to convince her that she isn't hatching this time. even if you've got some extra chicken wire to section off a part in the pen with the others would be good too. feathers |

Hey honey, Listen, if caging here only does not stop here from being broody right away, and it sounds like she needs to stop soon ! You should hang the cage above the ground...You want her to NOT be able to touch the ground at all.... This is the way you can break her from wanting to sit quickly... plenty of food and water and some sugar to her drinking water to get her back on track physically and quickly too... when they can still touch the ground and dirt sometimes it created taht want to continue to set due to triggers..the ground and being down and touching gives the the continous triggers in really stubborn hens taht refuse to stop being broody.. Hope this helps some and that she has already been broken for you... Let me know how she is doing dear.... Hope all is well, Blessing's to you, Mama Tami Gozzard |

thank u! yeah, she stopped being broody on
her own and she's laying again, but now i have a broody Wyandotte. lol.
The broodyness seemed to do something good for her though, cuase now she's very
sweet and gentle. So I guess some good came out of it. thnx
again!

Oh! Hi, sorry! I've been gone the past
few days. But i'm back now... for a while... then I leave again, and then
school starts up. Everything is good with me, cept all of my chickens that
are going to show at the State Fair are molting, and they look so
funny. My white Americana hen, Pippin, is shedding feathers
EVERYWHERE. lol. Besides that, everything is good. :)
How are you? :) ttyl!
