Hello fellow Poultry folk !
I was sitting here looking at the old calendar this morning and thinking about the hens looking so plump and ready for spring.. And then I got to thinking about fresh eggs and baby chicks.. I don't know about all of y'all but I like to feed a differant sort of feed in the spring when I know that the hens will be doing double time, as well as the rooster's needing to do their parts.. And doing some figuring, all I have read up on suggests that it is a good practice to start feeding your higher protein feed at least 30 days prior to the time that you want your flock to go into stressed production....
So I thought that right now would be a good time to start feeding them the high protein so that we can all expect some good laying and hatching results..
How many of you have a special way to feed for spring ?
What all do you do to prepare your birds for the weather change?
Come on in and share your spring prepare routine with us all..
I look forward to getting a good discussion working and hopefully learning some new techniques to use around here too...
Tootles for now,
Mama Tami
