Healthy Supplement for Your Poultry
While I was out and about came across this and thought it of interest!
Making your own yogurt for feeding poultry.
You can make yogurt by using milk in quart jars and adding at least 3 tbsp. of yogurt (any flavor), just don't use any artificial sweeteners. Set the jar on top of the hot water heater, refriderator, or on top of the stove or oven that is in use. You can even use the oven on the lowest temp. for several hours to make it work. The milk needs to be heated to 110 degrees and then allowed to cool. Add yogurt to milk and then set aside on the counter over night to allow it to thicken. Then it can be put in the refridgerator for storage until use. You can save a little out of the batch to make the next as the bacteria will stay alive for many batches. If the saved portion isn't thick enough you can add 1/3-1/2 cup powdered milk to the new milk, heat, add saved mixture and so on. Interesting thing, if you have milk goats that milk can be used also for this!
