Chicks Warning - Chicks May Carry Salmonella
Along with rabbits, sometimes live chicks are considered as a gift for Easter time. Some pet retailers have even capitalized on this interest by selling dyed chicks at Easter! Of course, pet chicks for Easter isn't the best idea for most folks, unless they have facilities for keeping pet chickens when those fluffy babies grow up. Also, a warning was issued last year about obtaining or handling baby chicks at Easter, pointing out the possibility of contracting Salmonella from baby chicks and ducklings.
