Ginger Goat can be quite a charachter at times. Every day, she jumps the fence and is usually waiting to get milked. She also jumps it again when we go inside. She also greets visitors and often will try to get in the car with them. Last weekend, when we had to make the Erie trip, Ginger jumped the fence and was right at the car when I was getting in. She tried going through the window on myside and was halfway through when she gave up, and was circling the car instead. When hubby backed up, she followed us out to the road and justy about gave me a heart attack. Heather had to put her on the dog lead so that we could leave. I ended up being so worried about the goat, that I had hubby take me straight home after we dropped Heather off. Dale wanted to do something else, so he was not happy about this. Nefer |

Hi Deb, Ah, Ginger sounds like such a sweetie. She just wants to be with her family as much as possible. That is so adorable and Ginger is definitely a beautiful goat. Thanks so much for sharing this with us. Brought a big smile to my face. I just love hearing animal tales! Have a wonderful Labor Day celebration. Hugs, Michelle |

The other thing I wanted to say is that the one drawback I find to having so many animals is not being able to travel or like you said, worrying while you are away! I'm going to schedule some day trips this fall and winter when the weather is nicer here in Florida. There's so much to see and do in Central Florida where we can leave in the morning after feeding everyone and be home before dark for their evening feeding. I can have my daughter check on them in the middle of the day.

Hi Marsha, We have a hard time with going away too. It is hard to find a motel that is not sleezy that will accept three dogs. We have yet to put any of these dogs in a kennel. They come everywhere with us. So we also try to plan day trips where we can get home in time to feed them if they have not come with us. We also have to plan things around the ducks. We usually leave them at a friend's house when we go away for more than a day. Michelle |

Hi Marsha, What breed of goaties do you have? It's an interesting thing to notice 'there's Ginger' following right behind us going to the house from the goat shed every day. She is a registered Nubian and loves people. She just has an overabundance of personality. Her full name is 'Cookie Dough Ginger Snap Cookie.' I forgot to mention she has followed me into the house, too. Deb |

Deb,
My goats are all mixes. Five have horns. One doesn't. They are all different colors. A couple might have Nubian in them.
I like your goat's name! We have a one eyed treeing walker coonhound who came to us with the name Cookie. We often call her Cookie Dough Dee.

Hi Michelle, Goats are often used in petting zoos, so I think so. Nubians are known for abundant personality and being vocal. As far as I know, Ginger is between 2 and 3 years old. She had been bred before we got her and had twins. Hi Marsha, Are your goats friendly? Deb |

Hi Deb,
Yes, all 6 of my goats are friendly. Some are more friendly than others. The oldest one came to us not wanting to be touched at all. We didn't try to tame her but she just got used to us and now likes to be petted.
Marsha

Another Ginger Story: Because of well problems, we have to go periodically to an artisian well and recycle water bottles from the store. We did this the other day, but didn't take the trunk full of water into the house until today. Ginger was on the scene, following me into the back porch, which was no big deal sinceanother door blocked her from going into the house. One of our dogs was out on the lead, but the other was in the house. When I started taking water gallons in, she followed me into the house and came face to face with Bruno. Fortunately, there wasn't a fight and the goat scrambled out as fast as she could. Where I was lucky is that the dog didn't follow her so that I would have to chase him across the county. Nefer |
