I am confused about how to tell the sexes of Pekin Ducks apart since the genders look alike.  the lady at the farm who is hensitting my girls said that she had been told that if the tail curled up on the ducks, that they were male; if it was straight, they were female.  However, she does not know very much about ducks, so is unsure about the sexing.

Hubby and I visited the farm yesterday to look in on our girls and checked the ducks as well.  All of the the tails were curled up on all 10 birds, so now I am more confused than before.

Can someone help me please?  I am hoping to get two females and one male in the near future.

Nefer,
Honey, I really can't tell you how to VENT sex a bird... I have a diagram here someone sent but have never been able to size it were it is plain enough... You will think me totally daft ...But the way we sexed ours worked for us....
Get your ducks in a group...around the time that they are quacking the most... Then you listen... Or pick them up one at a time which usally makes them start quacking...
A FEMALE duck will have a very Deep, Loud and BOLD quack ! The males quack is very weak and sort a squeaky...
The females just have a very loud voice... even at birth the differance is noticeable in them... We learned this after being sooooooo bad at trying the vent sexing..cause I had one to die in the process..which in our book says is something that can happen until you have gobs of practice.. I'll see tho..if I can find that illistration and post it for you..You might can make more of it then I can...
I hope this helps you out a bit and the next time you go see them...try it and see what you come up with...
Blessings' to you,
Mama Gozzard
