AWwwwwwwwwww...They are too cute and looks like Mom and babies are doing well...! Those little ones should be great flyers with muscovy and mallard mix..I never knew till about a few months ago that the muscovies could fly..I was really in awe when I saw them come flying by me... Thanks for sharing the photos of your new little ones with us... I'll look forward to seeing more soon..and please do keep us posted on how the babies are progressing... Oh and Mama sure did a great job on her hatch..nothing like mother nature..
Tootles for now,
Mama Gozzard

Hey ,

The babies are doing great!! Your right mama sure can fly....somehow she is getting the babies out with her! I haven't caught her yet but it should be an interesting story when I see how she is getting them out! The fence is over 6 feet tall and has a wall about 3 feet tall around the bottom to keep critters out and babies in......they roam around in the yard all day and then get back in the pen to go inside the barn at night.........Daddy stands in the door waiting for them...too cute...lol.......

the other day a couple of the babies were in the pen without mom and the daddy duck was trying to kill them...I had to go in and get the babies out.Does anyone know why he acted that way?

MamaDuck,
I've seen males of many breeds try to kill off babies... I think it has something to do with the fact that they want the females to stop being broody and back in the mating phase of things... We have had that problem with ducks, peacocks, and some chickens...It's best to keep that daddy away from his babies...He is wanting his mate back..and she won't hear of that until the babies are grown and weened away from her...
They are looking so very cute...
The possum raided our last nest of baby ducks ..or eggs I should say...but there were babies in the hulls when we found them....almost made me sick..seems we are overrun with them this year...
I hope that things are going good with them..I bet they have grown bunches since this last photo....seems like they grow up so very quickly on us...Thanks for sharing with us...I love it totally...Hope to hear more and view more photos of them really soon...
Blessing's to you,
Mama Gozzard
