More Easy Ways to Add Fragrance to Your Home
1. Hang bunches of dried lavender in closets.
2. Place a heaping bowl of dried rose petals on the sideboard.
3. Put dried lavender or rose petals on the sideboard.
4. Make sachets of your favourite dried herbs to hang from door knobs.
5. Stuff small pillows with dried herbs and place them behind cushions where they will release their scent when disturbed.
6. Place heaping bowls of dried lavender flowers strategically around the house.
7. Place pomanders in drawers and closets.
8. Instead of a bowl of fruit, fill a bowl with pomanders.
9. Fill a jug with long cinnamon sticks.

Porcelain Sinks
To keep your porcelain sink clean, mix bleach and water in a spray bottle and sprinkle some baking soda on the sink.  Spray the bleach mixture over the baking soda and scrub away.

Dryer Sheets
Use quality dryer sheets and cut them into 6 equal size strips.  Use one strip per load and you will not be able to tell that you did not use the whole sheet.

This is a tip I snagged from my favorite magazine for those who iron ..... Sort your ironing according to the settings on your iron: delicate on low heat , cotton on meduim and jeans on high .Then just steadily increase the heat of your iron rather than changing the heat up and down .      Tamed

Sweetening The Vacuum
Does your vacuum give off a stale smell? To get rid of it, place half of a scented fabric softener sheet inside the canister! When you turn the machine on, there will be a sweet scent.

For your Garden
Instead of using chemical insecticides, try using an alcohol spray.  Use every five to ten days.  It will kill mealybugs, scale, spidermites and whiteflies.
To make:  Combine 4 parts water and 3 parts rubbing alcohol.  Add a small amount of Ivory Snow.  Use in a spray bottle.  Make only enough that you will use in a few days.

Stain Removal Hint
Always work from the back or underside of a stain. Place some absorbent material underneath. When you apply solvent to the back, you force the stain out the way it came in, rather than more deeply into the fabric.

Cleaning Toilet Bowl

  • Clean the toilet bowl while you're away by pouring in 1/4 cup bleach and leaving it until you return.
  • Keep the toilet bowl ring-free by pouring a half-gallon of white vinegar in it once a month. Let it soak overnight before flushing.
  • Don't use bleach if you're already using a tank-held cleaner that's released when the toilet is flushed. The two may react chemically.
  • To avoid clogging and odors, pour one cup baking soda down the bowl weekly.

Dusting Chocolate Cake Pans When a recipe calls for greased and floured cake pans for a chocolate cake, Grease the pan as usual, Dust the pans with Cocoa powder instead of flour.  Should eliminate the sticking of the cake and no white stuff on the outside of the cake!

Easy Egg Cleanup
If you drop an egg on the floor, cleaning it up can be a messy and sticky situation.  Pour salt directly on the egg, let it sit for about 15 minutes.  Then simply wipe up with a paper towel.

I used this today and it worked!

Drop a couple of denture cleaning fizzing tabs into your bowl for a while.  Let it soak then take your brush and wash the under the rim and above the water line.  I have hard water here and it took it all away!

I also heard Alka Seltzer works, but I haven't tried that!

The denture tabs are much cheaper than the new Scrubbing Bubble tabs and I heard it works the same!

Silvers of Soap
Save those slivers of soap, place in a mesh bag and hang from the faucet in the bathroom and Voila!  Instant handwashing center!

Eliminating Cooking Smells
If you've burned food, toss several lemon or lime slices into a pan filled with water and bring it to a boil. It will help to clear the air!  Open windows and turn on fans too.

Moving Heavy Appliances
Before moving the fridge or your stove, cover the floor in front of it with bar soap or liquid detergent so the appliance will slide more easily.  When you are finished, clean up the soap so no one will slip and fall.  And now your floor in front of the appliance is clean too!

Painting Caution
Before beginning to paint a room, anywhere there is any hardware, such as doorknobs, window locks... rub some petroleum jelly (vaseline) on those and the paint will not adhere to the hardware and will clean up in a jiffy when you wipe the petroleum jelly off!

Storing Sour Cream & Cottage Cheese
When storing these items in the fridge, make sure the lid is on tight and store them upside down.  This keeps air from getting in, thus extending the shelf life of both!

A Shopping Tip
When going shopping, always take the competitors ads with you.  Most places will usually match their competitors instead of losing a sale.  Try it, it can only save you money!
