Propane check
To check the level of your propane tank before you start to grill, heat 1 cup of water to very hot or boiling.  Then, pour it down the outside of the tank.  Because the propane is cooler than the air in the tank, condensation will form to reveal the gas level in the tank.
(I don't know how many times I have started to grill, and the tank is empty in minutes  ) Djay

Picnic Tip
When you pack a Picnic basket and may need a small paring knife, put it in a toothpastholder to protect yourself and the knife.

Plastic Storage Containers
To keep tomato based products from staining your plastic storage containers, spray with a light coating of cooking spray before using.  No Stains will devolop on them.

Snack Food
For a snack or a children's party, take a banana and dip one end in chocolate.  On the other end stick a popsickle stick in.  Place in the freezer on a cookie sheet lined with waxed paper.  Freeze for at least half a day.

Old Pantyhose Use
Slip your hand into old pantyhose leg or knee high when you pet your animal.  The loose hair sticks to the nylon. When done turn it inside out and discard .

Faux Flowers
You can clean them quickly by dusting with your hair dryer turned on cold air.
Or place flowers into a large bag, add salt, seal the bag and shake. Your
flowers will look "fresh".

Car Windshield Cleaner
Mix one part vinegar or one part nonsudsy ammonia (not both) to three parts water. Clean the windshield, rinse with water and buff dry. Repeat if all the film isn't gone.

Top of the Fridge
Cover the top of your fridge with shelf paper to prevent the dusty mess from ending up on top of the fridge.  Just throw that section of shelf paper away when cleaning the area and replace with fresh.

Washing Windows
When washing your windows, use vertical strokes when cleaning the inside window and use horizontal strokes when cleaning the outside.  This way if you miss something, you will be able to tell which side you missed it on.

Yard Sales
When having a yard sell, use those colored sticky dots to mark your items.  For example, red dot = $1, Blue Dot = $2, Yellow Dot = .50 etc.  Then place a poster board sized sign indicating what each dot is.  This way you won't have to answer a ton of questions on price and your customers can easily find the price.

Mopping Floor
Whenever you mop your kitchen floor throw a non-scratch scrubber on the floor. As you mop keep the scrubber close to your  foot to scrub off anything that seems to be stuck to the floor.

Gum on Fabric
For garments that have gum stuck to them and they have been washed and dried, rub the affected area with peanut butter.  Let it sit.  The oils in the peanut butter should cause the gum to release its grip.

Wilted Lettuce
Don't throw away the lettuce leaves that have wilted.  Use them instead to wrap up leftover meat.  The lettuce leaves even though they are wilted, still contain water, causing your meat to retain its moisture.

Address Book
Use a photo album to create your own personal address book.  This way you can include a picture of the family or friend along with the address.  A very personal book for just you!

Picture Wedding Wall
Attic crammed with photos in boxes? Get out all the wedding pictures and put in chronological order. Then attach a long
curtain rod to an empty wall. Frame and hang all the wedding photos starting with grandparents and ending with the most current ones of your children. It will be a
treasured pictorial history for all to view.

Ferns

To boost up ferns that need revitalizing, water it with weak tea or plant a soggy used tea bag in the soil.

Mowing Grass
Before mowing your grass, wipe the lawnmower blade with vegetable oil to prevent grass from sticking to the blade.

Carpet Stains
To remove a stain from carpet, use white foam shaving cream.  Spray the shaving cream on the spot, use an old wet toothbrush and rub the spot.  Then use a damp clean cloth to finish it off, removing the shaving cream.

Create Extra Counter Space
When preparing food for large gatherings and you are running out of spaces to cool the food, bring your ironing board into the kitchen.  Open it up and now you have an instant counter where hot foods can be cooled.  Great when doing a lot of baking.

Mixing Bowls
Place a damp towel under a bowl when mixing or beating mixtures.  This will keep the bowl from sliding around and help reduce the household noise too.

Garden Tools
To keep garden tools from rusting and to get the dirt off, place the tools in a bucket of sand that has been with about 1/4 cup of vegetable oil.  This will clean off the dirt, lubricate the tools and sharpen the edges of them.

Keeping Your House Cool
In the summer months, keep your curtains or shade closed to keep your house cooler on those especially sunny days.
In the winter months, on sunny days keep your curtains and shades open to allow the sun to come in and warm up your house.

Overcooked Cookies
Don't use a knife to scrape off the burnt edges.  This could be dangerous, use a box grater (or hand held one) to scrape the burnt edges off!  Then have some cookies!

Don't Throw Out Old Phone Books
Put one into the trunk of each car you own. If you forget your address book or need to look up an address or phone number, it's available for quick reference. Great for emergencies too.

Dusting a Ceiling Fan
Use a pillow case (old one), place over blade and wipe the blade pulling the pillow case towards you.  This way the dust is trapped and can't fall to the floor.  Then you let the dust go in the trash (or outside), and wash the pillowcase when it is time to wash your sheets.

Pillows
Do you pillows need freshening?  Throw them in the dryer w/a fabric sofener sheet.  Set dryer on air setting for about 20 minutes and they should come out fresh!  Now, I throw my pillows in the wash all the time, then dry them in the dryer (usually I throw in a tennis ball cause I read somewhere that it helps to "fluff" them back out).
But be sure to check the labels.

Hard Water Deposits
If you have hard water deposits, spray white vinegar on full strength.  Let it "soak" a bit.  Then wipe off.  If the deposits are too bad this may have to be done several times.  And you may need to use a stiff brush.

Make a Copy of Your Credit Cards
Take all of your credit cards and place them face down on a
copy machine and make several copies. Put one in a safe
place at home and another in a safe-deposit box. If you
lose your cards or they're stolen, you'll have a record of
all the numbers and be able to give it to credit-card
companies or your insurance company.

Quick After School Snack
Here's an after school snack your kids can make. Keep on hand flour tortillas and packages of individuallywrapped processed cheese singles. They can put a cheese slice on top of a tortilla, fold in half on a plate and pop into the microwave for about 25 seconds.  (I like to add a spoonful of hot sauce!) Be sure they know to wait until it cools to eat!

Steel Wool
The steel wool pads are great for cleaning things around the house.  However, one pad is usually too big for the job and the wool ends up rusting.  When using steel wool, cut the pad in half or thirds, keep the extras in a jar by the sink.  This will save money plus it will sharpen your scissors as you cut it!
