Looking Good - Hair Habits To Break?/FONT>
"Tips To Help You Look & Feel Your Best"
------------------------------------------------------------
Old habits are hard to break. When it comes to hair, some of
these habits can be damaging or prevent your hair from looking
its best. Here are some common mistakes. See if you can break
some habits for your hair's sake...
Shampooing everyday...Hair actually looks better when the natural
oils from the scalp move down the hair shaft. Every other day is
a better idea and even a third day is better if you can. If you feel
you need to freshen your hair up, spritz the roots with water and
restyle it with a blow dryer...
Wearing your hair up or in a ponytail and fastening it in the same
spot everyday. This wears down the hair and can break it because
it gets caught in the band. Alternate where you put the fastener
and make sure you use a seamless elastic band which will cut down
on the stress applied to your hair. Even if you move the band 1/2
inch each day, you will be doing your hair a favor...
Brushing wet hair...Yes, combing it takes more time, but breakage
is usually caused by brushing wet hair. Instead, use a leave-in
detangler and gently comb the hair with a wide toothed comb starting
at the ends and working up...
Remember the old adage, "100 strokes a night"- brushing your hair silly,
not health problems. This leads to breakage and all you need is a few
strokes to distribute the oil through the hair. Any more than that and
you're stressing your hair...
Using the wrong brush...Using the wrong brush can not only ruin your
style, but damage our hair. The longer your hair is, the larger in
diameter the brush should be. To give your hair volume, use a round
brush, to smooth hair, a paddle brush. The more hair you have, the
larger the brush you should use...
